Hello everyone,

I am taking a moment to post a few pictures of my wonderful weekend with my son Jay. We had great weather, enjoyed great food and I especially enjoyed his wonderfully successful show, "Putting It All Together" - Sondheim. Here are a few photos of Jay, and Jay and the cast.

OFF TO VEGAS

Hi Everyone,

I'm so excited about this weekend. I am winging my way to Las Vegas to visit my son and celebrate his birthday. My son is in the entertainment industry. He writes, he directs, he acts, and I guess he pretty much does a little of everything, including owning a Murder Mystery Dinner Theater Production Company, A Touch of Mystery. I will tell you more about it when I return. I hope to be able to get a few photos too. I would love to share the fun with all of you. Lets hope all goes as planned.

New Years has come and gone and we are well into the month of January. Things have slowed down a bit here and I for one am so glad. I have been working "full steam ahead" for so long now it feels good to have something that resembles a schedule. This isn't a permanent situation for us. We are getting ready for Valentines Day, that wonderful time of hearts, flowers and of course chocolate. We will be happy to help you with the chocolate part of your celebration.

I have some demo's coming up over the next couple of weeks. Again, if you are in the area, please stop by and say hello. I would love to meet you and of course give you a taste of our truffles.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS

I usually don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but this year I thought about them in a different way. I hope this makes 2012 a better year for you and those around you.

MAKE A RESOLUTION YOU CAN KEEP
“Be Different this Year”

1. Start the New Year Fresh-

2. Before tossing those old things to the curb, donate them to one of your local resale shops. This way the stuff is out of your way and into the hands of someone who can get some more mileage out of it.

3. When making gifts for someone you love, remember to make something for someone you’ve never met as well.

4. Get inspired this year by subscribing to a new publication.

5. Take a class in something you know nothing about. You’ll learn a new skill and meet some new people.

6. Call and reconnect with a friend you have not seen in awhile.

7. Take advantage of your limited spare time. Have your “want to do” projects organized and ready to work on when you are available to work on them.

8. Start writing that book you’ve always wanted to write about all the funny stuff your kids and grandkids have done.

9. Visit that local museum or park you’ve wanted to see. Why wait for a reason to do it.

10. Be a little nicer to yourself this year.

11. Take time for yourself.

12. Remember celebrations don’t have to be big and elaborate. A small box of chocolates and a cup of coffee with a good friend is something to celebrate.

Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!! The holidays are are definitely in full swing. I participated in the Banner Candlelight Capers at the Baltimore Hotel for the Banner Health Foundation support of the Banner Hospital Poison Centers last night. I'll be telling you more about that later.

This morning I am getting ready to head to AJ's Fine Foods at Glendale/Arrowhead store. They are located at SWC 67th Avenue & Beardsley, 20050 N. 67th Avenue in Glendale. I will be there with our Sugar Free Truffles for you to sample . TRUFFLES AND TURKEY

So what does one have to do with the other, nothing really? I just know that one of my favorite holidays will soon be here and two of my favorite foods will be together in one place. (I guess I should mention that lots of my favorite people will be in one place as well). How many of us have little traditions in our lives that are marked by special foods, places, or people. It is just one of the things that make life special. Here we are in the middle of one of the busiest seasons of the year (especially for chocolatier’s) and we have this wonderful break that allows us to catch our breath, have some fun and head back into the chaos, refreshed. This year, instead of being the cook, I have the pleasure of being the guest at our Thanksgiving holiday. This will be a nice break for me from putting together and shipping all the holiday orders.

Do you like fun facts? I do… Here’s some fun Thanksgiving trivia for you… There are at least 3 American towns named after Thanksgiving dinner’s main course, Turkey, TX, Turkey Creek, LA and Turkey, NC. There are twenty towns in America named Cranberry. It has been a tradition for U. S. Presidents to issue a pardon to the White House Thanksgiving Turkey. Since 1947 the National Turkey Federation has presented 2 live turkeys to the President of the United States in a ceremony knows as The National Thanksgiving Turkey Presentation. The turkeys are pardoned and since 2005 have spent the rest of their days in either Disneyland or Disney World. Isn’t America great!

A SWEET DAY WITHOUT THE SUGAR

I love meeting new people, especially those that I can change their minds or those that I can expose to new tastes. Yes I make the best truffle you will ever taste (according to me) but it is the people that I meet and that share my enjoyment of this art form that is really the reason for this company to exist.

This past weekend was a lot of fun. I demonstrated our truffles at the different markets who carry our products i.e. AJ’s Fine Foods because it gives me a chance to get out and meet and greet the stores customers I am selling my products to. Honestly, it is one of the things I enjoy most about my business.

One of my good friends is a Diabetic, and has been a fan of E. J. Confections “Sugar Free” truffles for some time now. He loves the truffles, but cannot have the sugar. So with this in mind, I decided to demonstrate my Sugar Free line of truffles at the markets this weekend. As people walked by, I was getting lots of Halloween comments and how everyone ate their fill of sweets. But most people tried a little taste. I got the same question from almost everyone, “are you sure these are sugar-free”? I just smiled and said “they sure are." The sugar free Belgian chocolate we use is absolutely fantastic because it has no medicinal taste or bad aftertaste. What a treat for all those folks who can no longer eat sugar. The holidays are a perfect time to give a special gift to that special boss, friend or relative, even if they are on a diet, or are diabetic.

And, of course, congratulations to Fara Walling of Phoenix, AZ for being this week’s Truffle Thursday recipient.

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY

What a great past week this has been. We had our first diabetic Truffle Thursday winner, Terry St. Pierre of Simi, California who was nice enough to contact us and let us know how much she enjoyed our Sugar Free Truffles. She said that they didn’t affect her sugar level at all for which she was a very happy camper. We love Happy Campers here at EJC and strive to make all our customers part of that group.

Next, we were fortunate enough to be invited to participate in a chocolate and wine pairing evening given by UBS here in Scottsdale. We enjoyed teaching folks how to properly pair the two and love watching their delight at learning something new. It was fun meeting lots of new folks and sharing in an enjoyable evening.

Several months ago I did a charity event with a local hospital. An evening cooking with me was one of the prizes. This week I got to pay off. Five lovely women came to my house and I taught them how to scoop, roll, dip and decorate truffles. There was lots of laughing, teasing, and finger licking going on throughout the evening. Each gal got some truffles to take home. After we finished with the truffle making, we topped off the evening with a wine and chocolate pairing. Thanks for the great evening girls, I had a wonderful time and I hope you did as well.

Whew, what a great week.

Our next wine and chocolate pairing event will be at Press Coffee here in City North this coming Friday, November 4 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
